It was terrific to see Microsoft come out swinging with here new laptops specifically targeting Apple’s MacBook Air’s.
Don’t worry It’s me. I haven’t been hacked. 1
This video is an excellent summary of the announcement.
Side note: Satya Nadella - Microsoft’s CEO is an impressive performer and not afraid to come out swinging with his rivals.
This actually reminded me to re-evaluate and remind myself to use AI a lot more to help me in my day to day stuff.
Might be worth asking yourself about your AI Usage recently?
On Gotcha searches and AI Useage…
Benedict Evan’s had a good threads post on this which I completely concur with…
There is a very good argument for testing and “red-teaming” AI Search results. Gotcha articles and just wait for Apple WWDC in a couple of weeks. It will be at an all-time high.
I heard a very good journalist on a Podcast say that until they get this right, they should not release it.
What?
The whole thing with this useage of AI (and in particular with LLM’s like ChatGPT) is that it’s human like. I get shit wrong to. Often.
I was telling colleagues this week, AI copy get’s you 80% of the way there, editing and adjustments by YOU will get you there.
I wish I could find it but as someone wrote this week.
Why should I spend more time consuming your content than you took to create it…
Yup. A pox on your house if you are putting automated shit out there.
Of course, the system controlling your autopilot controlling your car needs to be 100% correct…
Nuclear Reactors should be controlled by 100% correct computer systems
Apple is in this dilemma right now. It’s classic disruption theory. They are now the incumbent intent on sustaining their lead.
Anyway, Popcorn at the ready.
Making Coffee
In a recent letter, I noted the excellent Coffee video from James Hoffman.
He just released a video showing a behind the scenes.
Now, let’s focus on the doing our stuff where we are at.

People think I am an Apple Fanboi. This is not the case. I’m a best tech fan boi. Someone comes out with something better than what Apple does in a particular area and I will drop my Apple device in a second. It just has not happened in a long-time…
This is cheeky and compared to the lives it will save, I’m a big fan of autopilot. Of course if a Tesla rolls over a child, Ic old understand the issue.
I moved from Apple a couple of years ago because quite frankly the tech, and most impotently the supporting eco-system couldn't keep up. I spent a while with Linux, and now am a Widows 11 fan boy. Yup the OS has a lot to be desired, and I have hacked it to an inch of my life, but I have a machine that outperforms the best mac x2.5 times for half the price.
