Seeing some of the most respected pundits in the industry (including my fave, Ben Thompson of Stratechery)pick up on what I wrote yesterday was gratifying.

The OpenAI keynote is the new iPhone keynote. It will be destination viewing for all nerds (and, importantly, consumers - more on this below).

It was terrific 45 tight minutes of a delicate balance of developer and consumer news.

It’s nice to see that my instincts are still in working order.

But enough of the self-congratulations (for today).

Let’s get to the meat of the opportunities I see for us in yesterday’s Keynote.

I want to focus on the things that jumped out to me and are key opportunities for Legends.

GPT–4 Turbo - Your super-prompts are trivial to me now.

A 128k context window is a fancy way of saying, Hey, I can absorb 300 pages now. A thousand PDF digesters just cried out in pain.

It’s also way cheaper to use the API. We are happy to burn tokens for many of our purposes because we are focused on niches and not looking to create mass consumer products.

Nevertheless, how often do you wake up and your costs are halved in your business? Well, that just happened.

Sweet.

Opportunity 1 - The Assistant API

You all hopefully had a go at the app I have been working on for Blackbelt. Well, that whole thing got a HECK of a lot easier.

You can use documents to train your “assistant”, generate cool stuff like charts and graphs and interact with other systems, like your client database.

Here is what this means;
