Legend’s
Allow me a slight divergence this week from the heady world of AI.
Before I retired, one of the most popular videos I would do each year was a Book Of The Year Video.
So, I thought, why not? Let’s bring that sucker back.
And so I present to you My Most Impactful Books Of 2023
Why Impactful?
This has been the most transformational year in my life. I mean this in the most positive way possible. With the miracle of ADHD medication, I’ve been able to stick to things and make changes I could not have before.
It’s also made me take a good hard look at myself—something I’ve avoided for pretty much, well, ever.
For anyone who has looked under that personal rock, the findings can be unpleasant.
I didn’t start this way, but as I have found with many things this year, this video is a bit of a journey as well, from what you would expect from me to some areas you would definitely not expect. The book that was meant to be the last video, which brings everything together, felt like a really nice landing.
And then, Plot Twist…
The truly most impactful book for me this year, I was not going to put in this video.
I was too embarrassed. But the book arrived at the perfect time for me ( the gory details are in the video), and to not include it here would not be honest.
I re-read the first chapter again last night, knowing I would publish this video, and it still guts me like a sushi expert at the new Tsukiji Fish Market.
Not including the book in this list would be perpetuating the sort of behaviour, the book shines a spotlight on. Fortunately, the book will not be relevant for most of you, but if it helps someone. That’s good enough.
So there you have it,
Please enjoy, and I would LOVE to find out in the comments or email what your most impactful book of the year in 2023 is.

PS One of the things when I was thinking about the book of the year was realising how many YouTube videos and podcasts I watch now for education and learning. Maybe next year, I’ll have to go “Multi-Model”, as they say in AI. 🤓
Banging list of books Ed. Thanks for your insights
Stoked to see this back Ed! Thank you!
